With great sadness and a heavy heart, I regret to inform you that Rarecraft will be shutting down for the foreseeable future.
This decision was incredibly difficult to make, and one that I have not taken lightly. Deep down in my heart, I feel that Rarecraft has hit the limit in terms of what can be achieved, thus it’s better to go out at the top, instead of waiting for the inevitable decline that would’ve taken place.
The servers will remain online for one month, after which point they will be taken down (14/07/14).
From what started as a simple project between my brother (2beef) and I, Rarecraft has since grown to over 2,400 members. We’ve met some amazing people during this time, and I would personally like to thank every one of you for making it such an interesting and enjoyable experience. I’m truly honoured to have served such a wonderful community, and wish you all the very best.
As most of you know, Mojang recently made it known that they intend to start enforcing their EULA. To comply with the regulations, we’d have to completely redesign our rank structure, remove all web shop items and create innovative ways to make up for the lost capital. This was something we were prepared to do, but I feel this challenge was one step too far. Keeping up with Mojang’s Minecraft updates is hard enough!
Since we’ve known about the EULA changes for over 2 weeks, it only feels right that we refund this Month’s donations. Any donations before this time will unfortunately not be refunded. We’ve also paid $400 for another month of hosting, as we expected to continue, but, due to further added difficulties it feels impossible to carry on.
I’d especially like to thank 2beef, Turtylx and Seanbrown. You guys are like brothers to me – well, one of you actually is my brother. Without your help, Rarecraft wouldn’t have survived as long as it did. You kept it up when I was down, and I’m immensely thankful for that.
Further thanks goes to Tom and Mike. Tom, you’re one of the smartest 13 year olds I’ve ever met. Use this additional free time to build something useful. Mike, your decision making is second to none. If only you’d have joined earlier. You’re a top bloke, and I’d be happy to call you my friend.
MCThings and B3nd0rz, excellent builders and a credit to the community. BillyBenji, always welcoming and positive. Pretzel, long serving and loyal. iiSoulfully, brightened everyones day. Aussie_Detox, level headed. Azza, helpful. Cooliertop, of loyal and of enquiring nature. xNADESx, a true friend. Shadow_Hunter97, supportive. ShaneXB, top man. Thank you to all of our members and supporters over the last 2 years!
Finally, this experience will always be a part of me and I will remember it forever. I’m sorry it had to end, but nothing lasts forever. We’ve had some brilliant times, I’m glad you were part of it.
